Brian Matusz, first-round pick and longtime Orioles pitcher, dead at 37
Brian Matusz, a previous first-round draft pick by the Orioles who burned through eight years in the majors as a pitcher, passed on Tuesday.
He was 37 years of age. No reason for death was given.
The lefty made 279 of his 280 vocation appearances with the Orioles, who composed a sincere recognition for the pitcher via virtual entertainment.
Our hearts are weighty this evening as we grieve the death of previous Oriole, Brian Matusz," the group composed on X. "A staple in our clubhouse from 2009-2016, Brian was darling all through Birdland, and his energy for baseball and our local area was unequaled. He committed his opportunity to interfacing with any fan he could, was a valued colleague, and consistently had a grin all over.
"Brian's family and friends and family are in our viewpoints and petitions at this troublesome time."
Matusz, a Colorado local, turned into a star at the College of San Diego, winning the 2008 West Coast Gathering Pitcher of the Year.
