Fast-moving fires in Pacific Palisades, Altadena, Pasadena and Sylmar burn homes; gusts of up to 99 mph reported

Firemen were doing combating a quick fire that broke out Tuesday morning along Piedra Morada Drive in Pacific Palisades and by night had developed to in excess of 2,900 sections of land.


The burst, what began around 10:30 a.m., harmed homes and constrained thousands to clear. A few occupants needed to leave their vehicles out and about in their endeavor to leave. The reason for the fire was not quickly clear.

  • Mandatory evacuation orders were in place in all of eastern Altadena — east of Lake Avenue.
  • Evacuation orders were in place for a wide swath of northern Pasadena — north of Orange Grove and Rosemead boulevards, east of Lake Avenue and west of Michillinda Avenue.
  • In Sierra Madre, mandatory evacuations were ordered north of Sierra Madre Boulevard, and voluntary evacuations were in place for the rest of the city.
  • In Arcadia, mandatory evacuations were ordered north of Foothill Boulevard and east of Santa Anita Avenue, as well as north of Orange Grove Avenue and west of Santa Anita Avenue.
